At Five Seed, we believe beauty comes from within – not from an anti-wrinkle cream, a “perfect” weight, or blush and mascara. We believe these five things make for true beauty that shines from your heart and out of your body, illuminating you and everything you touch:
Responsibility. We live in a world that teaches us that we aren’t responsible for the things we acquire, use and discard. We pay to have our trash hauled away, and are led to believe that our responsibility ends there. So who is responsible for the growing landfills? Who is responsible for the trash our country ships to third world nations? Who is responsible for the plastic that ends up in Great Pacific Garbage Patch, killing birds, fish and other wildlife? In order to be and feel truly beautiful, we must keep our world beautiful – and that means learning about the consequences of our actions, and making adjustments everyday to lessen our carbon footprint. That is our number one goal here at Five Seed.
Generosity. Mother Nature is bountiful and abundant. There are treasures everywhere, and there is always plenty to go around. Generosity is about far more than money – it is a spiritual practice. Be generous with your time, your patience, your resources, your wisdom, and most of all, your love. And when you feel as though you are lacking something, remind yourself of the bountiful earth, and of all Mother Nature has given you. When you give freely, and receive freely, you open the channels to your own beauty.
Felicity. Happy people are beautiful. That’s an indisputable fact. A smile is nature’s facelift. It brightens your eyes, and your skin. It attracts more happiness, which in turns creates more happiness. When difficult times get you down, choose happiness. It is always a choice, and every time you make that choice, you make the world a more beautiful place.
Sunshine. We don’t often have the chance to spend much time outdoors these days, which is a shame, as our vitality, sense of joy, and beauty are deeply connected to our relationship with Mother Nature. It is important to get outside at least once every day, even if only for a few moments. Be smart when it comes to sun exposure, but let those rays shine on you for a few moments each day.
Love. Nothing makes you more beautiful than love. Loving yourself is the first step – you must, must, must love the “you” that Mother Nature created. Love others with equal fervor. Forgive those who hurt you (that resentment will end up stored in your skin, in your muscles, and will affect your outward appearance). And finally, love, love, love all of the life on this beautiful planet. Love our brothers and sisters of the animal kingdom. Love the plants and trees that sustain our bodies and atmosphere. Respect every living being – yourself, your fellow humans, and all of Mother Nature’s offspring.
